What We Do
Led by Dr. Gregory Cannarsa and Dr. Amanda Sacino, our team offers personalized care to help you achieve rapid relief.

Evaluation and Diagnosis
Our spine specialists conduct a thorough assessment of your symptoms, medical history, and spine health through physical examinations and advanced imaging studies to pinpoint the severity and location of the fracture.
Treatment Options
Treatment begins with determining whether your fracture can be managed conservatively with bracing, medication, activity modification, and physical therapy. When pain remains severe or continues to limit mobility, minimally invasive procedures such as kyphoplasty, vertebroplasty, or SpineJack may be considered to stabilize the fractured vertebra.
These procedures are commonly performed on an outpatient basis, and many patients return home the same day. During your evaluation, we recommend the approach that best fits your fracture pattern, imaging findings, overall health, and recovery goals

Recovery and Support
Our comprehensive care includes physical therapy and home health partnerships to ensure a smooth recovery and lasting relief following minimally-invasive surgery for spine compression fractures.
Because a compression fracture can be associated with osteoporosis, we also encourage appropriate follow-up with your primary care provider or specialist to address bone health and help reduce the risk of future fractures.
Minimally Invasive Surgery for Spine Compression Fractures in Naples
When a compression fracture causes severe or persistent back pain, surgery does not have to mean a long hospital stay or a difficult recovery. The Compression Fracture Clinic offers minimally invasive surgical procedures performed by fellowship-trained neurosurgeons from Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Maryland Shock Trauma.

Kyphoplasty is the gold standard procedure for vertebral compression fractures. A small balloon is guided into the fractured vertebra, inflated to restore height, then removed. Bone cement is injected to stabilize the vertebra and relieve pain. The procedure takes 30 to 45 minutes per fracture, and most patients return home the same day.

For patients who may benefit from greater vertebral height restoration, we also offer SpineJack, a titanium implant system that uses an expandable device on each side of the fractured vertebra to more precisely restore height before cement stabilization. Studies show SpineJack achieves superior height and alignment correction compared to balloon kyphoplasty alone, with equivalent pain relief outcomes.

Vertebroplasty is an alternative stabilization technique where bone cement is injected directly into the fractured vertebra to stop movement and reduce pain, also performed on an outpatient basis.

Both procedures are performed in our Naples facility with a dedicated anesthetist and a private, spacious recovery room for the patient and family.
How Can the Compression Fracture Clinic Help with Back Pain?
Back pain can have many causes, but pain from a spinal compression fracture is different as it’s often sudden, sharp, and can make standing, walking, or even simple daily activities feel overwhelming. At the Compression Fracture Clinic in Naples, FL, our team focuses on identifying whether a compression fracture is the source of your pain and helping you get relief as quickly and safely as possible.
Led by fellowship-trained neurosurgeons Dr. Gregory Cannarsa and Dr. Amanda Sacino, we use a thorough evaluation that includes your symptom history, a focused exam, and imaging review to pinpoint the level and severity of the fracture. From there, we tailor a plan to your goals and fracture pattern, which may include bracing, physical therapy, and when appropriate minimally invasive procedures such as kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty to stabilize the vertebra and reduce pain.
If you’re unsure what’s causing your back pain or you’ve been told you may have a compression fracture, a specialist evaluation can provide clarity, direction, and a step-by-step plan for recovery along with coordinated support, including home health partnerships, when needed.
